TGA planners today still spend a significant share of their project time on manual, repetitive tasks: creating schematics, writing reports, solving clashes, and compiling quantities. At the same time, there is a shortage of skilled professionals for truly complex and high-value engineering challenges. In this talk, we systematically analyze the core areas of TGA planning: Where do the biggest time losses occur? Which technologies, from LLMs and rule-based systems to agents, target the most impactful leverage points? And which approaches sound innovative but fail to address the real problem? No distant future outlook, just practical solutions that are already applicable today.
