New dates: digitalBAU 2028 moving to April

digitalBAU, the trade fair for digital solutions in the construction industry, is getting a new slot, setting it further apart from a host of other industry events in the spring. The next digitalBAU will be held at the Cologne trade fair grounds from April 24 to 26, 2028.

New slot, same location. For anyone interested in finding out about innovations in digitalization in the construction industry, heading to Cologne will also be a must in 2028—next time in April instead of March. Saskia Rettenbacher, Exhibition Director of digitalBAU, explains the new slot: “By rescheduling, we are deliberately ensuring that it’s further apart timewise from numerous other industry events, and giving exhibitors and visitors more room for targeted participation. Our hope is that it will result in an even more intensive exchange, attract more attention, and boost participation by the relevant target groups.” The current schedule, from Tuesday through Thursday, will therefore change to Monday through Wednesday.

Industry supports new dates

Within the industry, the move to April has met with a very positive response: “As we see it, the new April slot is an important step toward giving digitalBAU even more space and visibility in the trade fair calendar. Together with Messe München, we want to further strengthen and consistently expand the event as the leading industry platform for digital solutions in the construction industry.” Thomas Eichinger, Managing Director of the German Association for Software and Digitalization in the Construction Industry (BVBS)

Existing key themes enhanced for digitalBAU 2028

Digitalization remains an important driver for the future viability of the construction industry. In fact, digital solutions have evolved from a competitive advantage and become the norm, and will in future be a basic requirement for companies in order to remain competitive in the market. In addition, digitalization helps the industry boost efficiency, address the shortage of skilled workers, and ensure transparency and quality.

The digitalBAU 2028 trade fair concept enhances the event’s existing key themes. The focus will be on the productive use of artificial intelligence, process optimization and digital resilience in construction, and the transformation of existing buildings. The conference program and startups will also play a key role at digitalBAU in 2028.
